Meet the Doctors of Dental Care of Pearlridge

The doctors & staff of Dental Care of Pearlridge are thrilled to make the Aiea community our new dental home. We have dedicated our professional careers to providing you with the finest that dentistry has to offer. As a family practice, we provide comfortable care for patients of all ages, from children to adults. From the moment you walk in the door, you’ll benefit from our experience & detail-oriented approach…as well as our warm & caring commitment to your satisfaction.

We are proud to provide care for the Aiea community that has been such a fundamental part of our lives. Dr. Cedric Lewis is a lifelong Honolulu resident who received his dental degree from the Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Lewis’ wife, Kristin, was raised in Aiea & attended local schools from Waimalu Elementary to Aiea High School before going on to the University of Hawaii at Manoa as a scholar-athlete & graduating from the William S. Richardson School of Law. Her family still lives in the Aiea area.

From routine cleanings & checkups to cosmetic & restorative care, Dental Care of Pearlridge is your new neighborhood home for all things dental. Dr. Cedric Lewis

Dr. Cedric Lewis is a 1996 graduate of the Oregon Health Sciences University, where he received his doctorate in dental medicine. In his continuing education, he has completed courses in esthetics & implants, anesthesia & pain control, cosmetic dentistry, & the diagnosis & treatment of TMJ (i.e. jaw pain) disorders. Dr. Lewis is a charter member of the prestigious Hawaii Terry Tanaka Dental Study Group for prosthodontics. Dr. Lewis is also a volunteer dentist for the Special Olympics Hawaii & the Kokua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services, a health center where he started a dental mentorship program for disadvantaged kids. Dr. Lewis is one of 12 dentists in the country, & the only one from Hawaii, chosen by the American Dental Association Institute for Diversity in Leadership. In 2008 through 2015, Dr. Lewis was voted by his peers as one of Hawaii’s Best Dentists in Honolulu Magazine. In his spare time, Dr. Lewis enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristin, his son, Cole, & his two Pomeranians, Pooh Bear & Snoopy.

Dr. Brooke Burgess Uperesa

Dr. Brooke Burgess Uperesa was born & raised in Aiea & graduated from Punahou School in 2002. In 2006, she received her BS in biology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She then worked as a Medical Researcher at the John A. Burns School of Medicine before returning to Creighton University to earn her dental degree, where she made the Dean’s list & took first place in a clinical research project about teeth whitening. She is a member of ASDA, ADA, HDA & several dental study groups. Dr. Brooke provides a full range of preventive & restorative dentistry & welcomes patients of all ages. When not in the office, Dr. Brooke enjoys spending time with her husband, Dane, who played professional football for the Cincinnati Bengals, their son Shane & their daughter Brooklyn. Her perfect day is a picnic at the beach with Ohana!

Dr. Alexander Tarasov

Dr. Alexander Tarasov was born is St. Petersburg, Russia. He received his dental degree from Boston University & completed one year of advanced education in general dentistry at the University of the Pacific. After practicing as an associate general dentist in a private office in Cambridge (Mass) Dr. Tarasov was accepted to a three year specialty program at John D. Dingell VA Medical center. Upon completion of the residency he moved to Oahu, where he works as a staff prosthodontist at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii & provides care to patients of Kahala area at Wai‘alae Dental Care & Dental Care of Pearlridge.

 Dr. Richard Swaja

Dr. Richard Swaja graduated with a B.S. from Furman University in 1999 & received his doctorate in dental medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2005. He served as an active duty dental officer in the United States Navy between 2005-2013 at Camp Pendleton California, Marine Corps Base Hawaii & Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. Currently, Dr. Swaja is a dental officer in the United States Navy Reserve. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Hawaii Dental Association & has donated his services to Dental Lifeline for those in need, along with taking part in dental mission trips overseas. Dr. Swaja’s favorite part of dentistry is serving the people of Hawaii & fostering relationships with every patient. In his free time, Dr. Swaja likes to spend time with his wife Mayumi, travel & stay as active as possible with fitness & ocean activities.

Dr. Bryson Chang

Dr. Bryson Chang was born & raised as a local boy in Aiea, & could not be more excited to be practicing on the island he calls home. Following his early love for sports, he attended Mid-Pacific Institute & played baseball for the Owls throughout high school. Dr. Chang received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Creighton University’s undergraduate program in Omaha, NE. He then went on to attend Creighton University’s School of Dentistry, where he focused his efforts towards his childhood dream of becoming a dentist. Dr. Chang attributes much of his strong sense of community from the values he experienced at Creighton. His time on the mainland allowed him to road trip—giving him the travel bug he has today. When he isn’t working, you can catch Dr. Chang traveling, fishing, or playing golf.
